The Inventions of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: from Concept to Reality

The central character in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is Caractacus Potts – and he is an inventor.  Several of his inventions appear in the stage production.  Here are some of the concept drawings from Director Joel Varty, as well as the finished products as the appeared in our production facilities and finally onstage as Victoria Hall.

Audiences Cheered Opening Night for Chitty!

The VOS Theatre production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang runs at Victoria Hall in Cobourg until November 28th.

Last night Chitty was revealed for the very first time.  Designed by Robb Howells and created by the team of Howells and Scott Berry, she’s the largest prop ever to grace the stage at Victoria Hall, a beautiful creation and VOS THEATRE’s Opening Night audience were thrilled.

Audiences cheered and sang along before they jumped to their feet as the show drew to a close.

For co-director Joel Varty it was a sight to behold.  “It’s amazing to be part of something where people are willing to give up their Saturday.  Seeing Truly Scrumptious pull wig duty was especially fun!”

Some of the volunteers worked for more than 12 hours, indicative of the spirit of community that lives in VOS Theatre.

THANK YOU TO ALL THE VOLUNTEERS WHO CONTRIBUTED THEIR TIME!

Teamwork Can Make A Dream Work

We caught up with the younger members of the VOS THEATRE Production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.  The children’s ensemble worked tirelessly on Sunday to move their big number  “Teamwork” closer to performance ready. For those of you who are fans of the film, all of your favourite musical treats are in the stage version with some added bonuses like “Teamwork”.  The original song-writing team of Richard & Robert Sherman who wrote the songs for the movie collaborated to create new numbers in addition to all your favourites for the stage production.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang runs from November 19th to the 28th at Victoria Hall in Cobourg, Ontario.

Tickets are $26.00 and are available online and from the box office at 905-372-2210
